“Hold people with open hands, and keep God above all else.”
I read this in my devotional this morning and it really hit home. You can’t control people, your friendships, your significant other. Why try so hard to sway others to believe as you do whether it be political, biblical, relational? We are called to live like a light that speaks for itself. The sun doesn’t try to convince the darkness to come it simply is. In this present world Christian culture has this idea if people don’t agree or line up to their views they get deleted or shamed. This is a far cry from what the good book tells us. People flocked to Jesus because of the life He lived. There is a quote that says “Life isn’t just about darkness or light, rather it’s about finding light within the darkness.” That’s what our job is as Christians, loving those the world denies and bringing our peace where there is fire, not adding fuel. That applies to all relationships.
For we all return to our Father in heaven and have no true possessions here on this earth except for the spirit that resides in our soul. Being possessive is like clinging to sand it will only slip through your hands and bring emotions that have nothing to do with being a true child of God…cling to Him instead, not the news, not your spouse’s phone, not the friendship that offers no growth, not what others say about you. He is and has always provided solid ground so you won’t be so easily shaken when this world dissapoints or tries to consume you.. Fill yourself with the joy of His presence; no worry, no anxiety, only His peace. Be the person that spills out and over into the world with your goodness. “Then you will see and be radiant & your heart will tremble with joy and rejoice because the abundant wealth of the seas will be bought to you.
